Old Home Day Weekend *

Visit Historic Richmond Town for this annual festival of historic trades, skills, homecrafts, and celebration of Staten Island cultural heritage.

Since the 1960s, Old Home Day has been a fixture of Historic Richmond Town. Historic trades are demonstrated in historic houses and shops throughout the village, demonstrating the ways people lived and worked in the 19th century. Experience Staten Island’s past and present with displays by living historians and modern makers and cultural organizations.

At The Dutch & Native Market, Living Historians representing indigenous people and Dutch settlers will be also on site to interpret the trading of goods, treaties and cultural exchange between the peoples of Staten Island in the 17th century.


Event Features:

  • Living History Programs: See demonstrations of Tinsmithing, Blacksmithing, Carpentry, Chair caning, broom making, candle making, basket making, and more.  

  • Native Encampment Programs: Visit living historians at the Native Encampment who will be interpreting the history of the people of the Northeast Woodlands in the 17th century.

  • Restoration Station: Historic Richmond Town Restoration Team will demonstrate woodworking tools and processes 

  • Food: Fresh baked bread, soup and apple cider, all made on site, are available for purchase.

  • Live Music: A variety of musical acts will perform throughout the weekend. 

  • Vendors and special presenters: Visit with doll makers, fiber artists, beekeepers, calligraphers, and special guests including the Staten Island Cricket Club.
